PAX South: In Retrospect

Traveling back to the mundane existence that is reality, I had to reflect on the weekend that preceded. PAX South. Not just PAX South, though. The first PAX South. And I was there to witness it.
When I sat down to pen this article, it was difficult to decide what to include and what to leave out. What is relevant to gamers? Then I remembered, “I’m a gamer, too.” While this may seem disjointed and out of order, the memories and experiences are all that matter.
Most prominent for me had to be Operation Supply Drop. It wasn’t just the organization, though. It was the individual members. I had the privilege of meeting them and the members of Warfighter Engaged at an event put on by Rooster Teeth. What I learned about these people was nothing short of amazing. Each member had a story and not a one was ashamed or afraid to share their experiences or tragedies that brought them to the place they are today. The strength of these service men and women was both humbling and inspiring. The most memorable part of that experience was the following day when I was greeted like an old friend as I stopped by their booth. (more…)
